The report on the issue of the import of contaminated fuel was handed over to Minister Susil Premajayantha this morning.
The Minister said he will study the recommendations and thereafter decide on the payment of compensation for the affected persons. He said that he would also take action against the persons responsible, if such persons have been named. Some 2,000 vehicle owners complained that their vehicles were damaged due to the use of contaminated fuel two months back. The report comes amidst fresh reports that certain blacklisted companies have already been allowed to take part in tenders to supply fuel even before the report was out.
