Minister Basil Rajapaksa has disclosed that an allocation of 5.7 Billion Rupees has been made for development of the Kandy District. The Minister said that the funds received by the Economic Development Ministry will be allocated in full to all the Districts. Accordingly he revealed that the allocation set aside for the Kandy district was 5706 million rupees.

The Minister was addressing a Kandy District Progress Review meeting of the Divi Neguma National Programme. Special attention was focused at this meeting on all development projects that were mooted in the Kandy District during the last few years under the Divi Neguma programme. Senior Ministers Dr. Sarath Amunugama and Athauda Seneviratne, Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, S.B. Dissanayake, S.M. Chandrasena and Mahindananda Aluthgamage and Deputy Ministers Nirmala Kotalawala and Earl Gunasekara were among those who joined in this meeting.
