50,000 rupees is to be paid as compensation of behalf of each vehicle damaged as a result of using contaminated petrol. Action is being initiated to pay compensation within two weeks. The Petroleum Ministry has informed in writing to the Petroleum Corporation to take appropriate measures according to the recommendations of the Tripartite Committee which inquired into the petrol stock issue. Accordingly, the Marketing Division of the Corporation will pay compensation based on the information it had obtained. Also action will be taken to recover the financial los from the supply company as a result of the issue. The Petroleum Ministry said that Institutional heads have been informed to institute necessary action against officials responsible for the import of substandard petrol.
