A 25-year-old man convicted in the July 2010 shooting death of Nicholas Rae, 24, outside a Red Bank bar has been sentenced to 40 years in prison.
William Mark Brockmeyer was sentenced by Judge Edward Cottingham after a four-day trial in Lexington County.
According to the 11th Circuit Solicitor’s Office, Brockmeyer had become angry at Rae because Rae had informed two of Brockmeyer’s girlfriends he was dating others, and that his real name was Mark. Brockmeyer had been using the alias “Damien.”
Rae, the solicitor’s office said, also had gambled away $300 of Brockmeyer’s money playing pool the morning of July 11, the day of the shooting.
Several witnesses testified they saw Brockmeyer flashing a pistol that morning at Jager’s Bar in Red Bank.
