A new house has been granted to Upamalika Ratnakumari, the athlete who won a gold medal for Sri Lanka at the Singapore Open Track and Field Championship.
The Ministry of Housing and Common Amenities has taken measures to provide a house for the Sri Lankan athlete who brought honour to the motherland by winning a gold medal at the event. Minister Wimal Weerawanse instructed the officials to make arrangements in this connection when she met the Minister. Each house is being built under the Janasevana housing scheme at the expenditure of 1.5 million rupees. The new house will be constructed at Bulagala in Dambulla where her old house is located. The athlete said that she is prepared to make greater strides with more determination.
