There are plans to grant facilities which could enable to provide psycho guidance to women and children. President Rajapaksa has issued instructions to Officials of the Ministry of Child Development, Women’s Affairs and Social Services. The President made these comments during a discussion that was held yesterday at Temple Trees to obtain views and proposals from the Ministry of Child Development and Women’s Affairs for next year’s budget.
The President said that attention should be paid towards the standards and caretakers of children at Children’s Homes. The meeting took cognizance of action that should be adopted for the welfare of disabled children and senior citizens. He also stated that the culture of the country should be given due consideration, when introducing laws with regard to issues faced by women and domestic violence. Discussions dealt at length on the establishment at District level Centre of directing handicapped children to normal citilian lives, provision of services for the disabled and the issue of Identity Cards to senior citizens with the involvement of the Health Ministry. Many Parliamentarians, Ministry Secretaries and Senior Government officials were present.
