Public views are to be sought for the crafting of a National Transport Policy. Minister C.B. Ratnayake said that the process will begin next week.

The Minister pointed out that by next week they hope to brief the public through the media on the process of soliciting their views for the crafting of the National Transport Policy. He said that they intend to formulate the policy to suit the next 25 years.
The Minister was briefing the media in Colombo on the operation of Sri Lanka Transport Board and Private buses according to an integrated time schedule. Pointing out that initial discussions in this respect have already been completed, the Minister noted that the intention of the Government was to provide an efficient and quality transport service to the public. Chairman of the National Transport Commission Shashi Welgama and Secretary to the Ministry of Private Transport Victor Samaraweera were among the others who joined in this news conference.
