Discussions are being held at Temple Trees on the granting of these benefits.

These discussions were chaired by the President. The President held talks with heads of the Ministries of Posts and Telecommunications and Information Technology and Mass Media today. The President drew special attention on the granting of benefits.
Media Secretary W.B. Ganegala said that action has already been initiated for the provision of benefit of the “Agrahara” Insurance Scheme to media personnel. He further referred to the holding of training programmes and workshops to enhance the knowledge of journalists and the granting of loans at concessionary rates for them to purchase the necessary equipment. The Government was specially working on the provision of Information Technology throughout the country.
The President emphasized that the Nenasala Programme mooted in this respect should be further expanded. The President underscored the need to imparting training and awareness for workers selected for institutions. Ministers Keheliya Rambukwella, Jeevan Kumaratunge and Ranjith Siyambalapitiya were present at this discussion. Among others who joined in this occasion were Ministry Secretaries and officials.
