The Vermont National Guard's efforts to help the state recover from flooding caused by Tropical Storm Irene is getting a boost from National Guard members from eight states.
Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, South Carolina, Maine and Massachusetts have sent a total of about 370 people and 97 vehicles to help with the effort to recover from the floods.
Guard spokesman Lt. Col. Lloyd Goodrow says the guard engineers are working to rebuild roads and bridges damaged or destroyed by the flooding.
Last week helicopter pilots and crews from New Hampshire and Illinois came with their aircraft and helped deliver emergency supplies to Vermont communities cut off by flooding.
Goodrow says the Vermont guard is continuing to get offers of help from other state guard units.
