Chinese President Hu Jintao has assured full support to Sri Lanka if proposals were submitted against Sri Lanka at the UN Human Rights sessions in Geneva.
The Chinese President gave this assurance whilst participating in the 15th China International Fair for Investment and Trade in the Chinese coastal city of Xiamen and met with Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne. The inaugural speech at the International Trade Fair was to be delivered by Prime Minister Jayaratne. He was due to speak on bilateral relations between the two countries and the economical benefits to accrue to both nations.
The Chinese leader further said that the international media had reported that some countries will move a proposal against Sri Lanka at the Geneva sessions. If so, the Chinese President said that his country has decided to extend its support to Sri Lanka.
