Cabinet has approved the purchase of 187 metric tons of locally produced milk powder for the production of Thriposha. This was announced by Deputy Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena at the Cabinet news briefing today.
The cabinet approved the purchasing of 187 metric tons of locally produced Whole Milk Powder, a main raw material used for Thriposha production, from the 6th of August to December this year at a cost of 100.79 million rupees. He said Thriposha is a nutritious food distributed free of charge to the malnourished children, pregnant mothers and breast feeding mothers under a national programme.
The Sri Lankan Government has agreed to establish diplomatic ties with the Republic of El Salvador. This will enable to increase export of spices, processed vegetables, pneumatic tyres and rubber products. At present Sri Lanka’s Ambassador in Brazil is serving as the Ambassador to El Salvador.
The 33rd Annual Forum of the Parliamentarians for Global Action in Colombo will be held in Colombo from the 28th to the 30th of next month. Government and Opposition Parliamentarians of 105 countries will be attending the meeting. Attention will be focused on many international issues including the enthronement of peace. It was a joint proposal made by Ministers Prof. G.L. Peiris and Nimal Siripala de Silva.
