Stringent laws are to be enacted against child abuse. Chairperson of the Child Protection Authority Anoma Dissanayake said that they intended to enforce maximum laws up to capital punishment.
Mrs. Dissanayake said that she will propose to the government to impose death penalty on the child abuse offenders. She also said laws would be strengthened to make child abuse an offence that cannot be granted bail. The official opined that the aim of the new laws was to prevent child abuse in the country.
The Chilef Protection Authority Chief said capital punishment for child abuse was enforced in other countries and their intention was to make such a proposal to the Government.
