UPFA General Secretary and Minister Susil Premajayanth has proposed the setting up of a high powered committee to address the Grease Devil issue that has plagued the North.
Premajayanth has said the committee should comprise provincial political leadership, religious dignitaries, the governor, commander of the armed forces in the North including high ranking security officials and civil society activists.
The Minister has proposed that the committee should work to calm the unrest among people in the North over the Grease Devil issue.
The proposal to set up the committee had been made at a meeting held at the Jaffna District Secretariat organized by Minister Douglas Devananda and attended by high ranking state officials, security personnel, religious dignitaries and civil society activists.
Devananda has said Premajayanth was sent to the North by the President as his representative to address the unrest in the North over rumors about the Grease Devil following a request made by him to the President to intervene to resolve the situation.
