A group of youths from the North participated in a cricket match held at the Matara cricket grounds.
Five hundred rehabilitated youths from the north are currently visiting the south. They were warmly welcomed at Akuressa. They also participated in Hindu religious rituals at the Hulandawa Hindu Kovil and viewed the SLS tea factory in Akuressa. They participated in a musical show organized by the band of the infantry division of the Sri Lanka Army with enthusiasm.
A friendly cricket match was organized at the Uyanwatta stadium in Matara this morning. A large number of people had gathered at the grounds to watch the northern youths play. The match was confined to 10 overs. Ministers from the south Dallas Alahapperuma and Chandrasiri Gajadheera and Parliamentarian Sanath Jayasuriya also participated in the match. It was a special occasion for the northern youths who had never seen cricketers such as Sanath Jayasuriya. The team of the southern Ministers was defeated by the northern youths. The youths who brought brotherhood from the north to the south are due to travel to Kataragama from Matara tomorrow.
