A 25-year-old Richland County man was in custody charged with murder Sunday after being accused of pulling out a knife and stabbing the victim to death, the Richland County Sheriff’s Department said.
Anthony McWilson was being held without bond in the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
Few details were available Sunday on the victim, who was stabbed “multiple times” in the upper body and who died “on the operating table” at Palmetto Richland, sheriff’s spokesman Curtis Wilson said.
The stabbing took place about 3 a.m. Sunday in the 8700 block of Gnadenhunt Road near Ulmer Road, Wilson said.
Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said more details on the victim, including the identity, would be released Monday after an autopsy.
