Minister Wimal Weerawanse said that certain leaders who are partial towards the international community are attempting to undermine the development work in Colombo.
He said that Sinhalese, Tamil and Muslim communities live amicably in Colombo. Now the government needs to introduce socio-economic development and create a city that one can be proud of. He said that those who exploited poverty are obstructing this work. He called upon the people to rally round the President who wants to strengthen the people while beautifying the city. The Minister expressed these views when he participated in a function to hand over a community hall constructed at Samanthurupura in Mattakkuliya under the ‘Nagamu Puravara’ programme. It was constructed at the cost of 8 million rupees. The UPFA candidates for the Colombo Municipal Council election and local residents participated in the occasion.
