A joint federal-state terrorism task force led by the FBI detained and searched a suspicious vehicle on Interstate 85 this afternoon.
Traffic around mile marker 27 — between the Georgia line and Greenville, just north of Anderson — was diverted for several hours.
Shortly before 6 p.m., the FBI issued a brief news release saying “the suspicious vehicle has been searched and cleared. I-85 has been reopened.”
An FBI spokeswoman declined to say whether anyone was in custody, whether the vehicle had been seized or answer other questions concerning the incident. John Monk
