The JVP says its campaign for the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) elections would be based rallying against the corruption in the council and the government’s move to evict persons from the city.
JVP mayoral candidate Sunil Watagala has said the party’s campaign would be a voice for the people and that the election manifesto would be launched shortly.
He has added that awareness would also be made among the people in the city about the high level of corruption at the CMC.
According to Watagala, people living in the slums inColomboare being evicted without following any legal process and by simply giving the false promises.
He has called on the people to rally against the corruption in the government and the decision to arbitrarily evict people fromColombo.
