The two children who were abducted from the mother’s house have been found. The children who were in the custody of the father have been entrusted to the mother.
These two children were abducted from a house in Mirihana, while they were with their mother on the 5th of this month. The police stated that a divorce case had been filed in the Courts and until the court hearings are over the mother was granted the custody of the children. The mother had lodged a complaint with the Mirihana Police that her two children aged one and three years had been abducted. Later it was uncovered that the father had been involved in this incident.
The children Sachin de Silva and Chamin de Silva were handed over to their mother in the presence of SSP Deshabandu Tennekoon of Nugegoda at his office this morning. They were thereafter directed for a medical check up. Deshabandu Tennekoon said that the father was due to be produced in the Gangodawila Magistrate’s Court today. The Mirihana Police is conducting further inquiries for the arrest of several other suspects involved in the abduction.
