Lexington County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two Gaston men after someone told the department they saw two men were trying to take steel from a vacant lumber mill.
Deputies were called to the vacant mill at 180 Ballington Court around 11:50 a.m. Tuesday. While the men witnesses said they saw trying to take the steel were no longer at the scene, the witnesses provided detailed physical descriptions.
Around 1:07 p.m., deputies patrolling the area saw Hutchison walking on the 300 block of Glenn Road. Because Hutchison matched the description of one of the thieves, he was arrested. Deputies also found a red Dodge Durango near the mill, registered to a woman who lives with Coleman and Hutchison, the sheriff’s department said. Several large steel beams and an acetylene torch were found in a trailer attached the the Durango.
