A division of The InterTech Group Inc. is expected to bring 350 jobs to a North Charleston plant that will be a supplier to aerospace manufacturers in the Southeast, it was announced Wednesday.
The first phase of the new $30-million to $40-million factory is expected to open in the fall of 2012.
Hiring details were not immediately available, but about 20 percent of the hires are expected to be engineers and other highly skilled technical workers.
“It will not just be blue-collar jobs,” said Anita Zucker, InterTech’s chief executive officer.
The 25-acre factory site is on the Ingleside Plantation property, which is near I-26 and U.S. 78. It will be run by InterTech’s TigHitco Inc. unit and is expected to provide aircraft components made from composite materials.
