Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe has appraised the world leaders about the efforts made to submit the Darusman report before world representatives illegally. The Sri Lankan entourage which is in Geneva to attend the UN Human Rights Council Session has held several rounds of discussions with representatives of many regions. Minister Samarasinghe said that 57 countries representing the African, Latin American and Asian regions as well members countries of the Non-Aligned Movement joined in these talks. These countries were brief on the attempts made to include illegally in the Human Rights Commission Agenda the Darusman Report which was crafted only to educate the UN Secretary General. The Minister said that a majority of the countries endorsed Sri Lanka’s position and reached a policy decision. Ministers Nimal Siripala de Silva and Anura Priyadarshana Yapa and Parliamentarian Sajin Vaas Gunawardena joined in these talks.
