A 37-year-old Lexington man was killed when his motorcycle collided with a sport utility vehicle Thursday night near Springdale.
The motorcycle operator, whose identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin, was driving his Kawasaki north on U.S. 1 about a mile and half south of Springdale. Around 8:40 p.m., the motorcycle collided with a left-turning Chevrolet SUV driving by George Hunter, 52, also of Lexington, said S.C. Highway Patrol Sgt. Bryan McDougald.
The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to Palmetto Health Richland hospital for treatment, but died from his injuries around 11 p.m. Hunter was not injured.
The wreck is under investigation, McDougald said. – Kelly Davis
