Deputy Minister Faizer Mustapha has said that when the government is taking measures to relieve the Colombo shanty dwellers from poverty the UNP is spreading false propaganda.
He said that the UNP is carrying out a mud slinging campaign when the government is attempting to give houses worth 3.2 million rupees to the poor people. The UNP is exploiting the poverty and ignorance of the people. To obtain the benefits, the people should definitely support the government. The Deputy Minister made this observation at a meeting held to ensure the victory of the Colombo Municipal Council candidates of the UPFA including the Mayoral candidate Milinda Moragoda. The meeting for the UPFA activists was held at the Colombo residence of the former Minister M.H. Mohamed. Addressing the gathering Colombo Mayoral candidate Milinda Moragoda called on the people to extend the necessary cooperation to develop Colombo in a systematic manner. He said that for the first time there is an opportunity to develop Colombo in a systematic way. A big investment can be made for the first time to develop the city. The Municipal Council can work with the government to bring about a vast transition. The path of the government is clear and it is development.
