Initiated as an add-on trip to the Council of International Schools (CIS) South Asia Tour and coordinated by Scholarships for USA (Pvt) Ltd., (www.scholarshipsforusa.com) Ohio Wesleyan University would be visiting Colombo on October 4/5 in the company of few prestigious universities that have rarely travelled to the island before.
The highlight of the visit would be an opening evening where the best achievers of the nation could discuss with each rep of admissions and financial aid.
Ohio Wesleyan University (OWU), founded in 1842, has an unusual synthesis of liberal arts learning and pre-professional preparation.
The University is strongly committed to developing the service ethic in students, to fusing theory with its practical applications, and to confronting specific issues of long-range public importance.
The student body comes from 47 states and over 50 countries, and almost all reside on the attractive 200-acre campus where housing is guaranteed for all students. There are over 100 student organisations and 30 different sports. The University is located in Delaware, Ohio.
The city combines the safety, charm and pace of a small-town county seat (population 25,000) with easy access in 30 minutes to the state capital, Columbus, the 16th-largest city in America.
Columbus provides internship opportunities, international research centres, an international airport, and cultural events that complement campus life. OWU allows students ample internship, research, service learning opportunities to put theory into practice and international exposure by travelling abroad for various classes or programmes.
The admission process is competitive. Each application is carefully studied on an individual basis. Although the academic record is most important, followed closely by teacher and counsellor evaluations, other factors such as creativity, community service, and leadership are considered strongly. Advanced placement and/or credit is available for students holding A/level, IB or AP credentials. Scholarships are available to qualified students. Visit www.owu.edu for more details.
