A teacher at Heathwood Hall Episcopal School faces drunken driving and marijuana possession charges after being stopped on I-20 near Camden late Sunday by Kershaw County deputies.
Deputies pulled over Hartley Stewart Barber, 41, of Columbia initially for speeding around 11 p.m., chief deputy Marvin Brown said.
Barber refused to take a breathalyzer check at the county detention center after failing sobriety tests in front of deputies, Brown said.
A search of Barber’s also found alleged drug paraphernalia and a substance thought by deputies to be marijuana, Brown said.
It’s unclear why Barber was traveling in the area, Brown said.
