Rick Perry is vulnerable at least in South Carolina.
The Texas governor, who stormed to the front of the GOP presidential field with his official announcement in S.C. last month, now leads former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney by just 3 percentage points according to a new poll from Winthrop University of likely S.C. Republican primary voters.
The margin of error is nearly 5 percent.
Last month, polls showed Perry with a 20 percentage point lead over Romney.
Perry had the support of 30.5 percent of people who were "definitely planning on voting in the 2012 Republican presidential primary." Romney was second with 27.3 percent. The next nearest competitor was "not sure," with 11 percent.
