Special relief is being granted for public employees travelling by train on the coastal line.
Public Administration Ministry Secretary said that they will be given a 15-minute grace period for reporting late for duty.
Mr. Abeykoon said that this decision had been taken in view of the renovation of the Galle-Induruwa rail track. The Public Administration Ministry has decided to provide this special relief to Government employees who travel to office for work by train via the Coastal Rail track. The Secretary further said that they would be allowed to end the day’s work and leave office 15 minutes earlier. He pointed out that this relief would be available only for Government employees who had obtained train season tickets. The Secretary opined that the relevant circular had by now been made available to all Government offices.
