The Airport Customs have seized foreign currency worth around 11 million rupees.
An Indian national had attempted to smuggle out this foreign currency to Singapore. He was taken into custody. The currency was hidden in his checked luggage. Customs believe that many such incidents have been reported throughout the last two to three years. He was taken into custody in transit after the officers detected his suspicious behaviour. The Customs said the foreign currency included US Dollars, Sterling Pounds, Australian Dollars, Canadian Dollars, Kuwaiti Dinars, UAE Dirhams, Saudi Riyals, Swiss Francs and Euros.
