USC broke ground today for its new $106.5 million Moore School of Business.
The 252,000-square-foot building will rise on Assembly and Greene Streets, adjacent to the Carolina Coliseum. It will be built in the parking lot that once served the coliseums ticket windows.
The five-story building, designed by the New York firm Rafael Vinoly Architects, will be built to the highest environmental LEED standards and will generate as much energy as it consumes.
Construction is set to begin in December and will take about two years.
The open, cantilevered design will feature an interior courtyard and a turf roof to reduce heat and improve energy efficiency.
