Two men allegedly shot a 64-year-old Gaston resident because they wanted money and crack cocaine from the house where he lived, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department said.
Three more people have been charged in the case for helping the two alleged shooters and failing to report the crime to the police, the sheriff’s department reported.
Leon Justice was killed by a gunshot to the head at about 10:30 Wednesday night after he answered a knock at the door of his home on Victor Road near Gaston. Justice had rented a bedroom in the house for about a year, the sheriff said.
The sheriff’s department has charged Charles Carlisle Plumley, 29, and Shawn William Sharpe, 20, both of Lexington with murder, first-degree burglary and armed robbery. They were being held Friday afternoon at the Lexington County Detention Center and are awaiting a bond hearing before an 11th Circuit court judge.
Charles Plumley’s girlfriend, Angela Renee Griffin, 31, of Lexington, and his brother Raymond Daniel Plumley Jr., 36, of Lexington have been charged with accessory after the fact. Patsy Jean Anz, 63, of Gaston, who is an acquaintance of Raymond Plumley, has been charged with misprison of a felony, which means she failed to report the crime to police, the sheriff’s department reported.
