Wish and win a ticket to the Maldives

The time has come for the send-off party for Pushpika de Silva, who was crowned Miss Sri Lanka at the Derana/Veet Miss Sri Lanka 2011 contest. She leaves Sri Lanka in October to participate in the 60th Miss World pageant to be held in London’s South Bank, on Sunday the 6 November 2011. She carries with her the dreams and aspirations of the women of Sri Lanka, and at the same time create a platform on which our country can showcase the beauty, intelligence and talents of the Sri Lankan woman. In order to wish her the very best of luck at this gala event, Reckitt Benckiser Sri Lanka, on behalf of one of its key brands Veet will felicitate her at an event to be held on 29 September 2011 at the Park Street Mews.

Her success story and climb to fame is a true inspiration and source of encouragement to all women as she has defied all odds even in the midst of failure. In 2009, she entered the competition but due to personal reasons could not participate and entered the fray once again in 2010. Having won the Polonnaruwa Natural Beauty Queen contest, she went on to win the Top Model, Miss Photogenic and Miss Popular (SMS voting) at the Miss Sri Lanka 2010 pageant. However, having qualified in the five finalists round, did not win the crown. Her sheer determination pushed her forward once again to the 2011 contest and won the crown convincingly.

Hailing from Polonnaruwa, she endorses the great potential and possibilities open to all women whether they be from the city or from the rural areas of the country. She enters the world arena not only with her beauty, charm and poise, but also as an ambassador to our nation by emanating the values and beauty of our country in her acts and deeds in this pageant. In order to make it a special and meaningful gesture of goodwill to her and supporting our country as well, Veet the sponsors of the event initiated and activated the campaign to promote the beauty and talents of Sri Lankan women to the world outside. Furthermore, Reckitt Benckiser wishes to underline the importance of beauty pageants, which serve to encourage understanding and harmony amongst the various countries taking part.
“Reckitt Benckiser took up the challenge to kick-start sponsorship of the beauty pageant in order to portray and emphasize the vital link that our key brand Veet brings to bear on beauty. It is also an endorsement of its brand promise of making every woman feel she is special; and our organization says it not only in words, but in deeds as well, thereby maintaining its international reputation for effectiveness and quality,” stated the Marketing Director Rezwan Syed Tanzim
The management team of Reckitts, including the company’s Managing Director of Reckitt Benckiser Rahul Murgai and well-wishers will be present to wish all the best to Miss Sri Lanka as she gets ready to compete on an international platform. Media too will attend to cover the event thereby highlighting the importance of the occasion.
“In keeping with the theme for the event, ‘I am You’, Veet keeps its promise of making every woman feel special and beautiful and in order to encourage each woman to be an active part of this momentous event, the public are invited to go online on the Veet Facebook page to submit their wishes to Pushpika. Prizes will be given away to those posting the most inspiring and most liked wish. This would be an ideal way of encouraging and sending our very own Pushpika to the top level of the Miss World 2012 Pageant,” enthused the Assistant Brand Manager for Veet Chrishankar Janathanan.
