US Ambassador to Sri Lanka Patricia Butenis has said that the efforts made by the Sri Lankan Government to resettle civilians displaced by terrorism in their places of origin and uplift their living standards are significant. She assured continued US support to the island.
Mrs. Butenis said that many Tamil civilians were displaced due to LTTE terrorism. The operations launched to resettle these displaced in their places of origin with the routing of terrorism, have been successfully completed. She was surprised to note the high standard of infrastructure development as health education. The US Government will not hesitate to give more aid for these programmes. At the same time, the US Ambassador praised the tranquil environment now witnessed in Sri Lanka.
The US Ambassador was speaking after donating a truck worth 2.6 million rupees for the farmer community of Nedunkerni within the Vavuniya North Divisional Secretariat Division. Vavuniya District Secretary P.S.M> Charles was present on the occasion.
