A senior government minister says that the UNP has divided into many factions without any hope of resurrection.
Irrigation and Water Resources Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva has said that the UNP has become a part of the governing UPFA with many UNPers contemplating joining the government.
Addressing an election rally in Badulla, de Silva has criticized the UNP leadership for the downfall of what he termed as one of largest democratic parties inSri Lanka.
The Minister has said that the Opposition and UNP Leader is only interested in the perks and privileges enjoyed by the opposition leader ofSri Lanka.
According to de Silva, the UNP leadership has prevented young party members from climbing the political ladder for positions in the party.
