The government has presented 67 supplementary estimates amounting to millions of rupees to parliament for approval.
The supplementary estimates have been allocated between June 10th and 30th, 2011 from the Budgetary Support Services and Contingency Liabilities project of the Department of National Budget.
A supplementary estimate has been presented on behalf of the Department of Motor Traffic for approval of Rs. 1.1 billion for the printing of vehicle number plates from May to December 2011.
The supplementary estimates include Rs. 23.3 million for building rent for the Secretariat for Senior Ministers, Rs. 97.9 million for purchase of computers, training of teachers and capacity building under the Education Sector Development project under the Ministry of Education and over Rs. 40 million to the Ministry of External Affairs in relation to the re-opening of the Sri Lanka Embassy in Baghdad.
Millions of rupees have also been allocated for the purchase of vehicles.
The estimates for purchasing vehicles include Rs. 6.2 million for a vehicle for the Ministry of Child Development and Women’s Affairs, Rs. 5.2 for a vehicle for the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery and Corruption, Rs. 4.8 million for a vehicle for the Prime Minister’s office and Rs. 16 million has been allocated to purchase vehicles for Sri Lanka embassies in Seoul, Mumbai, Qatar and the Philippines.
