Two men allegedly shot a 64-year-old Gaston resident because they wanted money and crack cocaine from the house where he lived, the Lexington County Sheriffs Department said Friday.
Two more people have been charged in the case for helping the two alleged shooters, and another was charged with failing to report the crime to the police, the department reported.
Leon Justice was killed by a gunshot to the head at about 10:30 Wednesday night after he answered a knock at the door of his home on Victor Road near Gaston. Justice had rented a bedroom in the house for about a year, the sheriff said.
Charles Carlisle Plumley, 29, and Shawn William Sharpe, 20, both of Lexington, have been charged with murder, first-degree burglary and armed robbery. They were being held Friday at the Lexington County Detention Center, awaiting a bail hearing before an 11th Circuit judge.
Charles Plumleys girlfriend, Angela Renee Griffin, 31, of Lexington, and his brother, Raymond Daniel Plumley Jr., 36, of Lexington, have been charged with accessory after the fact. Patsy Jean Anz, 63, of Gaston, who is a neighbor of Raymond Plumley, has been charged with misprision of a felony, which means she failed to report the crime to police, the Sheriffs Department reported.
