President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh have met in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly Sessions.
Their meeting took place at the Palace Hotel in New York. During the meeting, the two leaders discussed matters important to the two countries as well as regional and international issues.
In the meantime the President met leaders of several countries yesterday. They included the Palestinian President, the Senegalese President, the Vice President of the Malvides, the Vice President of Uganda and the Emir of Kuwait. They praised the current programmes launched in Sri Lanka.
The Commonwealth Secretary General Kamalesh Sharma also held talks yesterday with the President.
