President Rajapaksa;s tour of New York is very successful. Minister Maithripala Sirisena said that the visit enabled the President to clarify to the world the country’s stability in his address to the UN General Assembly and in the discussions he had with state leaders.
Addressing journalists in Colombo, the Minister said that the address delivered by the President at the 66th Session of the UN General Assembly touched on various topics including terrorism, international goodwill, national as well as international development and human rights. His speech was very attractive and it was lauded by state leaders who were present. The Minister also said that the President seized the opportunity to meet many state leaders and hold bilateral discussions. As such he thanked the President on behalf of the people for this successful gesture.
