The international medical team which was in the island for six years and discharged an outstanding service during sudden disasters has left the island.These doctors arrived in the island to support in health services for those who were impacted by the tsunami. They also launched health educational programmes, uplifted the services of remote hospitals in the island and held special Health Clinics. Another significant service they discharged included services at a 100-bed hospital maintained at the Menik Farm Relief Village. A report on the services discharged by them was also released. Two Ambulances were gifted for the Puthukudiyiruppu and Mullaitivu Hospitals at the function held in Colombo. The ceremony was held under the patronage of Additional Health Secretary Dr. P.G. Mahipala.
