An Eastover man was jailed today on suspicion he was trying to steal copper wiring from a Columbia business.
Kenneth B. Billy was standing on a ladder cutting wiring in Grubbs-Ellis Propery Solutions, 3452 Main St., when police on routine patrol discovered him around 5 a.m.
The building was entered by force through its back door.
In addition to the ladder, Billy had wire cutting tools and a bag containing copper wiring, police said.
He was booked into the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center today, charged with petit larceny.
