Leona Plaugh, greeting voters at Woodland Park early this afternoon, admitted her District 4 runoff with Tony Mizzell will be a ?tight race.?
?It will be a matter of voter turnout,? Plaugh said.
By about 2:30 p.m. today, 501 people had cast ballots at Woodland Park ? more than at the same point in time April 6, during the general election, according to poll manager Linda Allred.
Plaugh, the top vote getter April 6, said it?s been a ?grueling campaign? but added she has enjoyed meeting voters, in-cluding Mary Behlmer.
Behlmer, who was casting her ballot Tuesday afternoon, recalled when Plaugh was Columbia city manager, there was a problem with a street in her neighborhood. Plaugh stopped by personally to make sure it was fixed.
As Behlmer walked to the door of the Woodland Park polling place, she hugged Plaugh.
?I just said, ?I hope you are here when I come to vote,? ? Behlmer told her candidate.
