Construction crews to begin I-385 lane shift

Work to rebuild 15 miles of Interstate 385 in northern South Carolina has reach a milestone.
Construction crews plan to shift the still open southbound lanes of the highway on to the newly poured concrete Sunday evening.
That will allow crews to start work on the old southbound lanes, remove asphalt, replacing it with concrete and adding shoulders to the highway.
The lanes will be shifted on the northern six miles of the project.
Northbound I-385 has been closed since January, when construction crews began the project. Officials hope to reopen all lanes in August for the highway that is the main link from Greenville to Columbia and Charleston.
