A teenager was arrested at Martin Luther King Middle School in northern Charlotte after pointing a BB gun at several students Thursday morning.
Police arrested Darryl Berry Thursday afternoon on Pondella Drive, not far from the school in Charlotte's Hidden Valley neighborhood
The 17-year-old, has been charged with possession of a weapon on school grounds and 10 counts of communicating threats, according to NewsChannel 36, the Observer's news partner.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Spokesman Officer Robert Fey said the teen, who is not a student at the middle school, showed up around 3 p.m. and held as many as 10 students at bay with the gun, refusing to let them leave. It's unclear if the other youths involved were students at the school.
Representatives for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools could not immediately be reached for comment.
