Drivers in Columbia will have to deal with temporary street closings Saturday morning for a parade honoring the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America parade, according to Columbia police.
The best bet for folks coming to graduation at USC or other events downtown is to use Assembly Street instead of Huger Street, which will be blocked for a short period between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.
The staging for the parade will begin at 9 a.m. on the 1000 block of Lady Street, near the corner of Park Street. The parade begins at 10 a.m. and travels west on Lady Street to Huger Street, north on Huger Street briefly and west on Williams Street to the State Museum parking lot.
With an estimated 600 participants, the parade should last less than an hour. Additional commemoration of the 100th anniversary will be held in the museum parking lot.
