Dalton Lee MacKenzee, age 44, formerly of Columbia and now living in Galveston, Texas, has been indicted by a federal grand jury for making a threatening telephone call to S.C. State Senator Darrell Jackson, U.S. Attorney William N. Nettles announced Friday.
The indictment alleges that MacKenzee made a call on or about March 13, 2010, in which he threatened to use a bomb to kill Jackson at the S.C. State House. Jackson is a Democrat representing portions of Lower Richland County. He also is the pastor of Bible Way Church. The arrest was a joint effort between the Galveston Police Department and the FBI.
MacKenzee was taken into custody in Texas on Thursday and will be brought to South Carolina to face the charge in federal court, Nettles? office said. The maximum penalty MacKenzee could receive is a fine of $250,000 and five years imprisonment.
