The Centre has allowed slain LTTE leader Prabhakaran’s mother Parvathi Ammal to visit Tamil Nadu for medical treatment on certain conditions and granted a six-month visa.
The Centre’s decision in this regard was announced today by Chief Minister M Karunanidhi in a suo motu statement in the state Assembly.
The Union Government’s decision has been conveyed through a letter to the Indian Mission in Kuala Lumpur where she is staying at present, Karunanidhi said.
He said the Centre’s gesture to 80-year-old Parvathi was solely for the purpose of medical treatment.
Immigration officials had last month deported Parvathi to Malaysia from where she had come to Chennai for treatment.
