South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford will talk about what he's going to do with a bill to raise the nation's lowest cigarette tax.
The Republican governor has scheduled a news conference Tuesday to talk about legislation that raises the current tax of 7 cents a pack to 57 cents.
Sanford has repeatedly said he'll veto a cigarette tax increase if it doesn't include a reduction in some other tax.
Legislators say they'll try to gather the votes needed to override a veto.
Two years ago the House went along with Sanford's veto of a cigarette tax increase. But the House's top budget writer said last week that legislators are tired of arguing about the cigarette tax and may override the veto this time.
