Former NFL star wide receiver Jerry Rice will be in South Carolina to compete in his second Nationwide Tour event.
Rice will play on Thursday in the BMW Charity Pro-Am. He played in the Fresh Express Classic in Heyward, Calif., last month and finished ahead of only one other pro. He missed the cut by 19 strokes.
This week, the 47-year-old Rice will open at the Carolina Country Club, one of three courses in the Carolinas hosting the event.
The NFL's career receiving leader said he became passionate about golf while with the San Francisco 49ers. He said he would go to the driving range before heading to team meetings, and return to the range after practice.
Rice enters the Pro Football Hall of Fame in August.
