A single-wide mobile home in Lexington County was destroyed by a fire early Monday morning.
The fire began about 3:45 a.m. in the kitchen of the home on Alpaca Road off of U.S. 178, according to Lexington County Fire Services. Firefighters believe an electrical short in the refrigerator started the blaze, which caused $4,000 in damage. The tenant was able to escape but was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor breathing problems, the fire department reported. It took firefighters 30 minutes to put out the fire.
Smoke detectors in the home did not work.
