A Galivants Ferry man died Wednesday afternoon after he fell 60 feet from a bucket truck while trimming trees.
Bill Hucks, 48, of Galivants Ferry, was pronounced dead at the Georgetown Memorial Hospital emergency room about 12:20 p.m. Wednesday, said Georgetown County Coroner Kenny Johnson. Johnson said Hucks was trimming the tops from some some trees at a residence in Pawleys Island when a co-worker said he leaned back against part of the bucket and it broke.
Johnson said Hucks, the owner of Hucks Tree Service the company hired for landscaping work, fell about 60 feet and a co-worker who was with him at site called 911 and began CPR. Rescue workers from Midway Fire Rescue rushed Hucks’ to Georgetown hospital after the incident.
Midway Fire Rescue members was called about the incident around 11:28 a.m., said Bob Beebe, spokesman for Midway Fire rescue. The incident happened on Sleepy Hollow Place in Pawleys Island.
